About Us

Learn more about the RCPA

The RCPA is the Somerset-wide member association for providers or health and social care and support. It was established in 1981 by a small group of care provider organisations to provide support and advice to other provider organisations across the County.

What we do

Originally focusing primarily on care homes, it has since then broadened out its membership to include a wider range of providers including home care, supported living and day care. Today it works with a broad range of organisations delivering care and support services across a wide range of client groups.

Other services

As well as providing representation, advice, support and information to our membership, we also engage with wider conversations involving others in the sector including a wide range of providers, social services and the NHS, housing and education and training providers. We represent our membership on a range of consultative and planning groups and fora and support providers in the transformation and development of services across Somerset.

Our funding

We receive grant funding from Somerset County Council to run a Trusted Assessor scheme which provides an additional resource to providers in relation to the discharge of individuals from hospital back home. For further information about this service, see our designated web page.
