Better Security Better Care Programme
RCPA are proud to share that the Better Security, Better Care programme has again chosen RCPA to be the local support organisation for the Data Security and Protection Toolkit for 23/24. We’ve had a fantastic response from care providers across Somerset. At the time of writing, over 75% of care providers in Somerset have registered for the DSPT and over 60% have published for 22/23. Many providers have come to RCPA with questions and queries about DSPT and data security issues. We look forward to continuing delivering high quality support for Somerset this year.
RCPA’s Project Delivery Officer
We are pleased to announce that Daniel Plummer, our Project Delivery Officer, has now increased his hours and is working with us on a more permanent basis. Dan has over 12 years’ experience in the care sector and since joining the company in July 2022 has proven to be an asset to the company in rolling out the DSPT support. Dan has now developed his role and as well as being the LSO for DSPT, he is working closely with the DiSC project team in supporting providers with digitalisation. We do hope you will continue to reach out to Dan for any digital support and we know you will join us in thanking him for all his hard work so far.
Data Security and Protection Toolkit – Deadline 30th June
The DSPT deadline is fast approaching. CQC registered providers should complete the self-assessment toolkit yearly. It’s not too late to register and get started with the DSPT for the first time.

Digitisation is Social Care Project
The DiSC team have been hard at work since Autumn 2022 with the funding opportunities for Digital Social Care Records (DSCR) and Falls Prevention Technology.
Implementing DSCR has saved thousands of carer hours across Somerset and positively impacted over 1500 lives. Funding is available for use with assured suppliers of Digital Social Care Records. 13 suppliers are now available to choose from, please use this tool to find a supplier who can meet your organisations needs
Funding for year two has been approved and the DiSC team would love to hear from you and discuss how DSCR and Falls Prevention Technology can improve your service.

A joint event hosted by RCPA and the DiSC team will be held in the summer to promote the use of digital technology and services in social care, keep an eye out for upcoming details and dates.

Online Workshops:
RCPA are hosting a new series of online workshops on the last Thursday of each month. These events will cover a wide range of data security and social care topics.
