We are pleased to share details of a new service to support health and social care staff wellbeing, a Keyworker Advice Service. Funded by the ICB and delivered by Citizens Advice Somerset, the service is available from 1st April 2026.
Somerset has thousands of incredible Health and Social Care staff (‘keyworkers’) many of whom are affected by the ongoing cost of living pressures. These difficult financial times can have a negative knock-on effect to health, wellbeing, and work. The Keyworker Advice Service has been set up to address these challenges.
Citizens Advice Somerset can provide free, independent, and impartial advice on a wide range of topics including money/debt, work, housing or benefits to any health or social care keyworker in Somerset. This is a very successful and proven national initiative, open to keyworkers across Somerset providing practical accommodation solutions. Please share the attached resources e.g. with your HR leads and help to raise awareness through staff meetings, post in staff rooms. Please help to spread the word!
Working with Citizens Advice Somerset, some insights to end of July: CA supported 23 clients working in health and social care across 57 separate advice issues, the referrals are increasing with a 45/55% split across ASC and NHS. 1) HCAs, 2) care support workers and 3) nurses as top three roles drawing on support with benefits, debts, housing, and employment being the top four issues.
